Preserving Cards and Special Memories With Your Photos

Although you could buy wedding scrapbook supplies at a craft store, you probably have a pile of potential scrapbook materials already.

Before scrapbooking became a huge industry, people made their scrapbooks from items they collected themselves. During the Victorian era, it was especially popular to include pieces of greeting cards and postcards, clippings from magazines or newspapers, and handwritten scraps of poetry or favorite sayings.

By using materials you already have, you’ll not only save money on your wedding scrapbook, you’ll make it even more special and personal to you.

Cards

Over the course of your engagement and wedding, you probably received a stack of beautiful cards from family and friends. Rather than file them away in a drawer, why not make them a part of your wedding memory book? Greeting cards contain a wealth of wedding scrapbook worthy material, such as:

Although you may want to include at least the front of some cards whole, others may be perfect for cutting apart into separate elements.

A card top that says “For the Perfect Couple” could be a great caption for a photo of the two of you. Pictures of rings may be just the thing to accompany your ceremony photos. And borders could look even better in your album than they do on the cards.

Personal Touches

How about typing up or writing down:

These things are priceless, and far more important to your wedding scrapbook than purchased quotes and stickers.

You can keep these words plain and simple and just type them up in your word processor, or you can experiment with fancy fonts, colored print, or special paper.

You could devote an entire page to your vows, or you can just use pieces of them throughout the pictures. For example “I take you to be my wife” or “you may kiss the bride” could be perfect photo captions.

If your scrapbook covers other wedding-related events, such as your engagement, showers, or rehearsal, you may also want to print up and include the dates.

Wedding Materials

If you saved other pieces of memorabilia from your wedding and honeymoon you may want to include them as well, things like:

By taking some time to put together pieces of important memorabilia, you can create a wedding scrapbook that preserves your wedding photos and will provide a fun way to look through memories for years to come.
