Another candle? A picture frame? Instead of a gift your guests will toss, spend your money wisely by giving them a gift they'll treasure.

Luggage Tags

Ideal if you're having a destination wedding or out-of-town wedding in which guests are traveling, luggage tags are personal and practical. Engravable silver tags are available at Restoration Hardware, or you can purchase leather tags and create customized inserts yourself, which lets you upload digital pics, then prints them out like a coffee table book, complete with leather cover.

Photo Albums

Instead of giving favors at the wedding reception, let guests know that they'll be receiving a photo album of the wedding and reception. Create small albums yourself, or use a program such as Blurb or PhotoWorks. Upload digital photos to the site, organize them, create captions, then wait for your customized coffee-table book (complete with leather, wood or fabric cover) to arrive in the mail.

His n' Hers

Offer his n' hers gifts your guests will love. For the ladies, wrap a ribbon around a bottle of your favorite nail polish. (Try OPI Dancing in the Isles or one of Essie's Bridal Collection polishes, such as Blushing Bride or Tie the Knot). For the guys, give them a travel shaving kit, a can of your favorite imported beer, a bottle opener or a beer mug.

Game Time

If you love playing games or sports, give each couple a frisbee, volleyball, deck of cards or a travelling checkers or backgammon game they can use in the car or on a plane.

It's a Wrap

Ideal for an outdoor wedding, purchase enough pashminas or wraps in your wedding theme colors for each female guest. Roll them and tie with a pretty ribbon and place in a basket at the entrance to the reception. This way, your guests will keep warm on a cool evening, and have a pretty gift they can take home with them.

Holiday Ornaments

If your wedding has a theme, purchase tree ornaments to match. For example, if you met in Paris, give guests pewter Eiffel Towers and get them engraved with the date of the wedding. Or, if you're having an eco-friendly wedding, give guests handmade ornaments that are made with recycled materials or support a charity you like.

Tea for Two

At a specialty tea shop, ask the tea specialist to help you create a personalized tea that represents the two of you. Blend your favorite scents or flavors, then package each in a small bag. Tie a tea ball to each and create customized labels with a unique name for your tea that incorporates both your names, and list the flavours in the tea and brewing instructions.

Jams and Jellies

Before the wedding, gather your wedding party for a canning day. Make strawberry jam, apple butter or dill pickles. Place the finished product in jars and create custom labels for each.

Popcorn and Candy

Everyone loves sweets, but instead of candied mints or chocolates, package something unique, such as pink or caramel popcorn in a retro popcorn container or jelly beans in Chinese takeout boxes. Your guests will love the treat for the ride home - and they can reuse the containers for a movie night!

Book sense

If you both love to read, give each guest your favourite beach paperback. You'll be able to get a discount on buying in bulk, and if you're having a destination or weekend getaway wedding, your guests will have something to read while they relax!lu
