Something old (check) something new (the dress), borrowed (not a problem) but how do you get something blue into your wedding attire?
Fitting the colour blue into your wedding outfit can be a bit tricky when most brides wear all white. If done in the wrong way it can be the only thing that people notice. Some designers like Monique Lhuillier have gowns which put blue right in the forefront such as a sash across the middle of the dress. However there are more subtle ways to incorporate that something blue into your look for the wedding. Keeping the Blue InvisibleThere are plenty of ways to get blue in without anyone knowing, it's not as fun as showing a bit of blue, but it will keep all superstitions at bay. Starting at the feet with the shoes, with a pair of pumps a lot can be concealed. Weddings are an all-day-long affair which means being up on your feet a lot, so why not get some Dr. Scholl's® For Her Open Shoe® Insoles, which also just happen to be blue. A toe ring in blue or some blue undies will also do the trick. Or use the tried and tested method of stitching a bit of blue on the inside of your gown, you can get creative and maybe have your husband-to-be's name stitched on the inside of your dress right by your heart. Blue For All to SeeBalancing classic elegance with a little bit of panache when injecting a bit of blue is art. Depending on the bride, blue can find itself in a large piece, or tucked away in a hairstyle in the form of a blue pin just like in the film Bride Wars where a much cherished blue flower sat in Anne Hathaway`s hair. In another film "something blue" took the forefront in the bride`s outfit, everyone remembers Sarah Jessica Parker`s blue shoes in Sex and the City: The Movie. The shoes the character Carrie wore are called "Something Blue Satin Pump" by Manolo Blahnik and are available at Neiman Marcus for the fashionista bride. However, if you are not as bold to spend $945 on shoes maybe a blue pedicure will do the job. The nail polish company China Glaze makes the perfect Tiffany inspired blue nail lacquer called For Audrey in homage to Audrey Hepburn, star of Breakfast at Tiffany`s. Accessorizing with blue seems to be the classic route; jewellery, garters, flowers, hairpieces. Let your inspiration and imagination make your something blue, something unique. Getting that blue into your wedding outfit should be a fun and memorable experience, not something to stress over searching for. Maybe if you sit back and relax your something blue will find you.
