With all the preparations a bride has to make for her beach wedding, it's easy to overlook some important things on her big day.
You've got the dress, the ring and the guests. But you still can't overcome the feeling that you are forgetting something. For beach brides, here are some commonly overlooked items that can make a big impact on your big day, for both you and your groom as well as your guests.
For the Bride and Groom:
Baby Powder. Unless you are lucky enough to be one of the few people on the planet who are immune to sweating, make sure you apply plenty of baby powder before you slip into your gown. This will prevent chafing and heat rashes, and help eliminate sweat.
Sunscreen. Seems logical to use sunscreen when hitting the beach, but many brides and grooms who exchange their nuptials beachside often forget this key item. Unless you want to be a blushing red bride, apply and continuously reapply the SPF to any exposed areas.
Insect Repellant. If your nuptials are near sunset, consider bringing an insect repellant to ward off the mosquitoes and other nocturnal pests. Citronella candles are a more discreet option.
For Your Guests:
Parasols/Hand-held Fans. It's easy for a bride to become sidetracked on her big day, but don't forget the needs of your guests. Provide them with individual parasols or paper hand-held fans for instant relief from the sun and heat.
Beach Footwear. Many of your guests are probably not accustomed to attending a beach wedding. Therefore, their choice in appropriate footwear may be a bit off the mark. Consider providing your guests with flip-flops. They can also make for an affordable favor. Simply attach a piece of raffia around the thong portion of the flip-flop, tie the pair together and attach a personalized gift favor tag.
Keep Them Hydrated. Standing in the heat and sun for a ceremony and then remaining outdoors for the reception can dehydrate your guests. Be sure to offer them plenty of cold non-alcoholic beverages. A great idea is to use personalized wedding bottles, as they are both fun and function, serving to keep your guests from getting parched and as an original favor idea.
Special Touches For Children. Keep your younger guests occupied with fun activities such as a personalized shovel and pail combo for digging up their own treasures and personalized beach balls for tossing around (without the added worry of doing any damage!).
To truly ensure that your special day goes as smooth as a day at the beach, take some extra time to consider you and your guests' needs.
