Unique Wedding Invitations and IdeasGet Creative, Cheap and Memorable with Wedding Stationary
Use some of these creative ideas when sending out your invitations and make your wedding memorable!
Craft stores are great places to get ideas for unusual wedding invitations. The scrapbooking isles have a seemingly endless supply of embellishments, ribbons, natural papers and stickers. There are isles with silk flowers and they also have a great selection of beading and jewelry making supplies. Using these supplies are wonderful ways to create invitations that are unique to the individual bride and groom. Beach Wedding InvitationsWhite glue can be brushed around the outside edges (about 1/2") of a flat, printed wedding invitation (on card stock). Then sand should be sprinkled over the glue, allowed to dry and any excess brushed away. Small shells can be affixed to a few of the corners with hot glue, if desired. Autumn Wedding InvitationsSmall silk leaves can be purchased at a craft store and glued randomly in the corners of a flat printed wedding invitation (on card stock). A few pieces of raffia can be added to the top with a small leaf holding it in the middle and glued down with a dot of hot glue. Leaves can be pressed in a book and allowed to dry (or purchase artificial leaves at a craft store) to use on a natural looking invitation. Sheer paper can be used to print the invitation and then placed over a piece of natural fiber paper. On the natural fiber paper, a leaf has been glued and centered. Once the sheer paper has been placed, it can be glued in place with one hot glue dot in the top middle of the paper. Then a small crafty embellishment is glued to the top middle of the paper – such as a seal or gold heart. Using Flowers on InvitationsThe invitation should be printed on a sheet of white (or light colored) paper, that is 1-1/2" smaller (both ways) than the underlying, dark or natural paper. Then the light paper should be placed over the dark paper and centered and affixed with a dot of hot glue to hold it in place temporarily. A hole should be punched through both pieces of paper in the top middle. A paper flower that matches the wedding flowers can be attached to the cards with a colored brad (both are available at craft stores) through the holes. Using the same method as above for the paper, two holes can be punched in the top of the papers instead of one. The stem of a wedding flower can then be fed through the holes to attach the two pieces together. Themed WeddingsMany couples are now choosing themed weddings. Making the wedding invitation fit the theme of the wedding is not only fun, but provides a "teaser" for the guests that will be attending. Themed wedding invitations are a great way for the couple to get creative. For instance, if a wedding is themed around Vegas or casinos, sending out invitations that look like playing cards would be very memorable or perhaps they could include a few "love" chips in the invitation. A Hollywood wedding invitation could be printed to look like theatre tickets – superhero enthusiasts could make a comic book invitation – medieval themed wedding invitations could be written on parchment and rolled up into scrolls. Unusual Wedding Invitations – Hobby or Activity InspiredEven if a wedding isn't themed, a favorite hobby or activity that brought the couple together or that they share an interest in could be used for the invitation. A couple who likes to scuba-dive could use pictures of their adventures as a backdrop printed piece with a sheer invitation over it. A couple who enjoys gardening together could make the wedding invitations look like seed packets, inserting bird seed to be used at the wedding instead of throwing rice (or seeds to be planted and grown into a plant in the couple's honor). Using their imagination and getting creative is a great way for a couple to express their love and come closer together while having fun. Plus, getting creative with their wedding invitations is a great way to get their family and friends looking forward to a fun and wonderful event.
