Like the bride, a groom should appear his best on his wedding day. Taking proper care of his skin, hair, and nails will help the groom look complete from head to toe.

More men than ever are paying attention to skin and hair care, especially when it comes time to prepare for their wedding day. While some grooms may prefer to wake up, shower and dress, many more are turning to their own special grooming routine to enhance their wedding day.

Shaving For The Wedding Day

Instead of using the same old razor to shave on the day of the wedding, grooms are now turning to their favorite barber or men's salon to provide them with a straight razor shave. Though straight razor shaving may seem like an antiquated technique, the results are far superior to modern day shaving methods.

Modern razors, such as electric razor or disposables, were designed for convenience. Straight razor shaves, however, provide an unparalleled close shave, resulting in exceptionally smooth skin. In addition to providing smooth, soft, and clean skin, straight razor shaves are less likely to cause irritation or razor burn.

When receiving a straight razor shave, the groom may also experience a facial steam bath, which helps to keep the skin hydrated and smooth or a facial mask, to help control oil and shine throughout the day.

Cutting The Groom's Hair For The Wedding Day

While it may seem obvious that the groom should get a haircut before his wedding day, the timing of the haircut is also key. A haircut for the groom should be scheduled about ten to fifteen days before the wedding date. By allowing time between the haircut and the wedding, the groom's hair will appear neat and tidy without looking like it was just cut that morning.

In addition to getting a wedding day haircut, the groom should also ask the barber or stylist to groom the other hair on the face and neck. Ear and nose hair should be subtly trimmed, and the back of the neck should be shaved to slightly below the collar line.

Nail Care For The Groom

When it comes to personal grooming, the fingernails are often overlooked. Clean and tidy nails on the wedding day are important for a variety of reasons. Not only does it look polished and complete, it allows for beautiful wedding photos. Many wedding photographers will take pictures of bride and groom's hands to capture the wedding rings, and clean cuticles and nails are a must.

Many salons and spas have a manicure specifically designed to meet the needs of men. In addition to clipping and shaping the fingernails, the manicurist will trim back the cuticles, leaving a clean and neat nail bed.

Specialty care services are typically available from the groom's favorite salon professional or barber. Additionally, more spas, salons, and specialty shops are offering wedding day grooming packages specifically for the groom and his groomsmen. Spending just an hour grooming in the morning will help a groom look his best on his wedding day.
