There are many things that couples have to consider when compiling their wedding registry. Make this process easier by following the advice in this article.

Couples can easily get lost in the aisles of throw pillows and silverware when registering for gifts. Instead of letting this happen, stay focused and use the following guidance to decrease stress when registering for gifts.

Use Registry Lists

Many wedding magazines and online wedding planning websites list essential items couples should register for and fun items to consider. A couple should find a comprehensive list and decide what should actually be on their list. One of these lists can be found on the knot.

Don’t automatically register for everything on the guide. If a couple never drinks wine and sees that a list states that they should buy eight to twelve wine glasses, they might not really need to register for that many wine glasses. Register for things that are needed and wanted.

Register Online

There are many benefits to registering online. A couple’s guests will be able to easily pick items off of the list even if they live far away from the actual store. It gives the couple more access to their registry leading up to the wedding. They can easily delete items, add items, and see what has been purchased. Many stores allow couples to see who purchased what items, so couples can get a head start on writing thank you notes.

Choose More Gifts Than Needed

Register at three stores, so the guests have options. Register at a high-end store, an inexpensive retailer, and select a fun, creative option. Wedding guests become frustrated when they can’t find something on the registry that meets their price point and matches their taste. Even though it’s the couple’s registry, guests want to feel like they actually got to pick something they want you to have.

Some couples don’t want to register for more stuff, so they register for charities or good deeds. This is a great option for couples who don’t have anymore space for items in their home or don’t really need basic registry items.

Another option is to register for guests to make a donation toward the honeymoon. One website that allows couples to set up a honeymoon registry is Distinctive Honeymoons. Guests can pay for one night in the hotel, day at the spa for the couple, or surfing lessons. If the couple decides to have a honeymoon registry, they should also have a smaller traditional registry for guests who don’t feel comfortable contributing toward the honeymoon.

Spread the News

Wedding registry information should never be sent out with the wedding invitations. Couples can let their wedding guests know where they’re registered by putting it on their wedding website or by having family members get the word out. It is only acceptable for the couple to inform a guest of the registry if they are directly asked for the information.

When registering for wedding gifts, make a list of things that are needed, register online, choose more items than are needed so guests have many options, and put the information on a wedding website.
